Thursday Recap

Last night I hit on the Central Michigan game by taking them at +7.5 and I pushed on the Miss. State game going with +2.5 and buying the half point. That half point saved me my money, I knew it was a good investment.

My Record:
Overall: 3-0-1
Spread: 2-0-1
O/U: 1-0

Friday Picks

UTEP plays Houston tonight, and I took UTEP at +20 on this one. I think UTEP keeps it close tonight, and thats a lot of points for them to have to keep it close. WVU plays Marshall as well, and I took WVU at -13. I think WVU walks away with this one, big. Marshall didn’t have a good outing last week, and I don’t think they can pick it up this week either.

Summary:
UTEP +20
WVU -13

My first picks of the season on a glorious night of Thursday night CFB.  Two games tonight, one that should be superb, the other is just for the degenerates. First up we have Central Michigan at Temple.  I got in at CM +7.5, which I think is a great number, that half point is my saving grace. I think that this game is really a toss up, but being able to allow CM to lose by a touchdown and still walk away a winner, is a great thing. Anything under +7.5 for CM and I’d probably not have bet on this one. A nice little statistic is that CM is 5-0 ATS on Thursday night games, while Temple is 0-4-1 ATS on Thursday nights.

Second on the slate should be a fantastic game, one that I’m looking forward to just watching, and not necessarily betting on, Awbarn at Miss. St. Its Coach Mullen’s 2nd season at MSU, and they trounced their opponent last week. I think Mullen is the real deal, and was truly the brains behind the Florida offense, under Meyer.  MSU has home field advantage, and they want this win badly.  The line on this one was MSU at +2.5 which I took, and I also bought a .5 to push it to +3.0. I think MSU wins straight up, but if they lose, they lose by no more than a field goal, and that extra .5 might save me to make a push rather than a loss.

I am not betting on the O/U on these games, I think its too much of a toss up, but Temple has beat the Over in their last 9 straight games, so my advice if you’re wanting to go with an O/U tonight, I’d take the Over on CM vs Temple.

Boise vs. VT Best Game of the Week

I started off my season with the last game of the week, Boise vs. Virginia Tech.  What a game to start the season off with, and what a game to end the first week of play on.  I was watching the game with my dad, and I made the comment to him, that if Monday Night Football was college football, I’d be way more interested in it.  Something about the pageantry, and tradition of college football, makes it much more enjoyable than the NFL to me. That point aside, I can’t stress how exciting the game was last night. Boise proves once again, not finally, but yet again that they deserve to be on the top of all the polls, and deserve a shot at the BCS Championship Game, if they end up on top at the end of the season.

I felt that Boise would win this game out right, but when I saw the line over at Bodog that Boise was +1, I jumped on it. I put 2 units on Boise, and also put 2 units on the over which was at 53 at the time of my bet.  It was a Monday night, nationally televised game, the first of the year, and I thought from the get go it was going to be a scoring fest.  When Boise went up 17-0 in the first quarter, I told my dad I was going to beat the over with just Boise scoring.  The game was more competitive towards the end, but the play from Boise didn’t equate over to the scoreline.  To me, it seemed as though Boise dominated the entire game in all facets of the game, yet going into the final drive, they were losing.  The game ended with a great drive, and a great score to win the game for Boise.

My record:
Overall: 2-0
Spread: 1-0
O/U: 1-0
